Welcome to the Paul Foster Case mailing list! Please read this message carefully, and save it for future reference. It explains the purpose of this list, a few rules provided to keep things running smoothly, and instructions on how to remove yourself in the future. PFCASE-L is an online discussion group set up for the discussion of the Ageless Wisdom as taught by Paul Foster Case and further carried out by Builders of the Adytum. The primary tools used by Case for this teaching were the Tarot and the Qabalah, with its use of the Tree of Life and Cube of Space. Be it known at the outset that this online discussion group is not sponsored by or affiliated with the Builders of the Adytum organization. It was set up by students of the Ageless Wisdom to provide a forum for discussion of these principles and reflects the participant's understanding. Opinions expressed in this discussion group do not in any way represent the official teachings of the Builders of the Adytum which are contained in the lessons which are available by correspondence course from B.O.T.A. directly. In the introduction to his book, _The Tarot: A Key to the Wisdom of the Ages_, Case has this to say: "The Tarot is a pictorial text-book of Ageless Wisdom. From its pages has been drawn inspiration for some of the most important works on occult science published during the last seventy-five years. Its influence on the minds of a few enlightened thinkers may be traced throughout the history of the modern revival of interest in esoteric science and philosophy." While this online discussion group is primarily in place for students of Builders of the Adytum to discuss theory and practice as taught by Paul Foster Case and Ann Davies in the lessons distributed to those members through their involvement in B.O.T.A., it is open to all interested people. Nevertheless, every participant should remember that this is a forum for discussion of the Hermetic wisdom as presented by Paul Foster Case and B.O.T.A. There are many paths toward the Great Work, this being but one of them. Other paths may have great value, but this is not the forum for their discussion. If you wish to discuss topics that do not pertain to this group, and do not know where to turn, we recommend you post a query in the newsgroup alt.magick. Please be sure to respect U.S. Copyright law. While "fair use" has been shown to prove most useful in posting snippets of information to online discussion groups for educational purposes, note that lesson materials provided by B.O.T.A. do not fall into this category. Do not post B.O.T.A. lesson excerpts to this list. Please observe courtesy in responding to other's posts. The goal of the forum is to create an atmosphere of acceptance and respect which will allow all individuals to interact and contribute at their own level of development and understanding. All mailing lists are subject to wide tangential discussions, and PFCASE-L is no exception. While tangents are perfectly acceptable, please remember that this list occasionally goes through periods of heavy traffic, and not every member of this list has the time or desire to read every message. Therefore, it is requested that if you change the subject of a discussion, you likewise change the subject header, so that members may pick and choose those discussions they prefer to follow. Please refrain from excessively quoting messages in your reply. It is generally helpful to quote enough of the message you are replying to in order to show the context of your message; quoting the entire message is cumbersome and a waste of bandwidth. On a similar note, avoid posting short responses such as "I agree!" and "That's right!" Such messages are best sent via private email. You will find the original poster's email address in the header of all messages sent to the listmembers, and can easily change the default to: header of your outgoing mail to that individual's mailbox. These rules are simple, and our experience shows that they greatly improve the quality of communication among listmembers. At the time of this writing there are over three hundred members of this online discussion group. Please show respect for the majority of people who do not wish to wade through muck in order to communicate with their fellow students. There is a digest version of this mailing list. If you choose to subscribe to the digest version, all messages sent to the list in one day will be placed together in a single email. To subscribe to the digest list, send mail to pfcase-d-request@dragon.org with the word 'subscribe' in the body of the message. To remove yourself from this list at any time, send mail to pfcase-l-request@dragon.org with the word 'unsubscribe' in the body of the message. You will likely want to do this if you subscribe to the digest version. It is also requested that you temporarily unsubscribe yourself if you are leaving on a long vacation, or are leaving school and will no longer have an Internet connection. Many Internet providers, notably America Online, have a maximum limit placed on the amount of email that may be received. Any mail beyond that limit bounces back to the listserver, causing a headache for the administrators of this mailing list. Again, show some respect. There is an ftp site connected to this list which contains some files available for download that may be of interest to the list subscribers. You can login via anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.dragon.org/pfcase. If you have any files you believe would be of interest to the members of this discussion group, please write to zeph@dragon.org for discussion of possible inclusion into the ftp site. Those of you interested in joining Builders of the Adytum, or simply desiring more information about the order, should turn your browsers to http://www.atanda.com/bota. There you may request that further information be sent to you by regular mail, find local bodies of the order around the world, or purchase the books of Paul Foster Case directly. Please note that the moderators of this discussion group do not manage the website. If at any time you have questions of an administrative nature regarding this online discussion group, you may direct them to zeph@dragon.org, who will do his best to handle your needs. Enjoy the discussions!
