PC-based 12v power supply

This is an ATX pc power supply. I grounded out green wire #14 so the PS would power up without a motherboard present. After checking to see what voltage was supplied where I hacked off the extraneous wires in an unattractive though field-expedient fashion. Runs cool as a cucumber thanks to the massive fan; you could probably rest batteries on top of it to keep them cool while charging. The voltage is nice and steady: 12vdc @ 7 amps. Newer/bigger units would put out even more amperage.

The yellow wires are 12vdc+ and the black wires are ground. I put those kind of connectors on to facilitate easy alligator clipping with no short-circuiting. There were also 12vdc- and 5vdc leads but I cut those off as I couldn't think of anything to do with them.

Power supply: $1 at a garage sale
Power cord: $1 at surplus store
Connectors: $0.50 at Fry's
Scaring l337 racer squids with my Frankenstein power supply: priceless.
