My daughter Forenn was
born in Mutlangen, F.R.G. in December 1987. Her mother was a soldier
stationed with me there on a Pershing missile base. Forenn was a tiny
thing when she was born; about 4.5 pounds because she was 40+ days early.
She was in ICU for 20-something days at the local Catholic hospital.
Now she's tall and thin and fearless. She does ballet, softball and assorted projects with her local talented/gifted program.
One of the most interesting things about having kids around is that they reveal your hidden assumptions. When you have to explain something to a young person you've gotta do a quick reality check first. This has been a rich source of growth for me, and I hope for her as well.
