Goals
In this session you will:
- Install x86 on wintel box
gotchas
- requires boot disc and (CDROM or NFS)
- no support for ISA hardware in 2.8
- not all hardware will work
- you may need to know your NICs MAC address
- you will need to have specifics on your monitor
- you may have to know the geometry of your HD
- scsi drives may need to be in a specific scsi id order
- later versions of x86 are partially PNP aware
- x86 is 32-bit
- no logicals in extended partitions? limited to 4 primaries per drive?
- installs happen much faster than upgrades
