OTR CDs for Mac folks

Most OTR CDs (including mine) that Mac people will encounter have been burned in "Joliet" filesystem to allow longer, more descriptive filenames. There are two important things to know about Joliet:
  1. Joliet is an extension (additional information) added on the disc.
  2. The actual underlying format is ISO-9660 (8+3 filenames), the ultraportable standard.

This means that if your machine does not automagically see Joliet you will still have access to the files on the CD; the filenames will just be truncated/obfuscated to 8+3 iso9660 style.

There is freeware for the Mac that will allow you to see the long Joliet filenames if you like: see the well-regarded Joliet Filesystem for Mac 1.4.2. Versions later than 1.4.2 are shareware, but the freeware version is just fine.
